Im blogging today on the stresses of having a teenager. I have a son, whom I love dearly, but this child is so careless with his expensive things. He just got a new mp3 player for xmas. I did much research on the many choices available before deciding on this one. It was in my price range and had all the features he was wanting. He actually wanted an apple Ipod, but since he had broken 2 other less expensive versions, I said no. I couldnt justify that expense. He will have to buy something he wants himself, if I feel that it is over priced. He has already broken the new mp3 player, he says I shouldnt be upset because I purchased a warranty with it. I was so enraged by his lack of concern over this. My son doesnt get it, the time involed in selecting this for him, the research I did on it, the ordering, and lastly the expense. I just get so frustrated trying to make him understand how being a mom isnt always as easy as it looks, and that he should respect his things, and take better care of them. I am returning the broken item, with hopes that they will honor the warranty, and Im debating about ordering a new one. Im thinking maybe he should just get a job when he turns 16 in 2 months, so he can see what all goes into making that money. His dad didnt help matters, by agreeing that I was "overreacting" since I had the warranty, but he too, was missing the point!!!! Dear God, please grant me patience.
